Before You Give Up on Your Puppy… Read This. 🐾
The first few days with a new puppy can be hard.
They’re crying.
They’re having accidents.
They’re not sleeping through the night.
They’re chewing things.
Your routine is completely different.
And suddenly, a question creeps into your mind:
“Did we make a mistake?”
The truth is, what you’re feeling is incredibly common. It even has a name—the Puppy Blues.
But here’s something to think about…
When a child comes home from the hospital, nobody expects them to know the rules of the house on Day1.
We don’t return children because they cry all night.
We don’t give up because they’re overwhelming.
We don’t expect them to instantly fit into our routines.
We understand they need time to adjust.
Puppies are no different.
Your puppy just left everything they’ve ever known—their mother, littermates, familiar smells, familiar sounds, and the only environment they’ve ever had. They’re trying to figure out who you are while also learning an entirely new world.
The first few days are not the puppy.
They’re the transition.
The puppy that follows you around the house, greets you at the door, sleeps by your feet, and becomes your best friend doesn’t usually show up on Day 1.
That relationship is built over time.
Responsible pet ownership means understanding that commitment doesn’t end when the excitement wears off. In many ways, that’s when it begins.
So before making a major decision, give it time.
A few days.
A week.
A chance to settle in.
You may be surprised how different things feel once the dust settles. Because every amazing dog was once a nervous little puppy trying to figure it all out. ❤️
